Origami and Oak

Kitchen & bathroom Transformations

This Menlo Park project was all about connection for a family of three. By removing the partition wall, we created an open flow where the induction cooktop now faces the living room, ensuring meal prep is part of the conversation. An extra large quartz island anchors the space, cleverly replacing lost cabinetry with deep storage on both sides. The aesthetic is a warm Scandinavian edit—light oak and pale grey casework paired with a "green" heart. We embraced a microwave-free layout and reused tiles and fixtures from a previous project to keep the footprint light.

For the bathrooms, we explored two distinct moods: the hall bath features fun-shaped cement tiles against a dark contrast, while the primary suite uses a single tile to achieve a sophisticated, monolithic look. It’s a home that feels curated, sustainable, and deeply personal.

A personal favorite? The pendant over the dining bench, hand-picked by the son because it reminded him of Origami.
